St. Mark’s Lutheran School - 50 Years 1970 -2020
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus. Worship Focus: Jesus says today in the Gospel: “ Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. ” How true! There’s so much more to life thanks to Christ and the eternal life he’s given us. However, we often fall into the t emptations of greed and abundance and forget about being rich toward God. So today we get a needed, stern, and loving reminder from our Savior that our earthly wealth is meaningless without him .
Worship Focus: 50 years of God’s Word connected to a variety of academic subjects meant to prepare students for the next level of education, this is what we are celebrating today. Friendships formed while in this present life and into the one to come, this is what we are celebrating today. Peace with God through Jesus, as well as guidance on how to live our lives, this is what we are celebrating today. YOU, being a part of the St. Mark’s Family, current member or not, this is what we are celebrating today. Celebrating the goodness of God, this is our focus.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Kolander
Musical Accompanist: Rosemarie Boushek

Welcome to St. Mark's Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark's for this special area Reformation Worship Service. We pray you will be strenghtened by the good news about God's grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus. Indeed we are saved by GRACE ALONE, FAITH ALONE, SCRIPTURE ALONE.
Worship Focus: When you think of strength, what do you picture? Does God come first to mind? He is described in the Bible as being our strength. What does that mean exactly? Can't we rely on our own strength? Is God's stremgth any better than another's? God's strength comes not just in His ability to do all things; it also comes in His message of forgiveness, a forgiveness that is ours by grace through faith. This Service celebrates God's strength by His grace through His gift of faith which comes through His Scriptures. Let us worship Him!

Focus of Today’s Service: What is freedom? If you are in debt, you are not really free. If you work for someone else, even if you own your business, you are not really free. Laws and Conscience remind us we are not as free as we might think. There is one freedom which truly is freeing, and it is free to us; that is the freedom (forgiveness) Jesus has for us. God help us live the life He has given us in and with this freedom. His Truth does indeed set us free. What that looks like is our focus.

Worship Focus:
What does your wish list look like? If you do not get items that you wish for,
how might that change your life? As we think about our answers, we want to reflect
on our motive for why something makes our wish list, as well as reflect on the life impact
of that item ...will it enhance or harm our life. We are blessed with material possessions.
Why? For what purpose? These and other questions come to mind as we reflect on the Word
of God before us this day.

Worship Focus: We are truly rich! We might not have the money and the houses and the toys that this world treasures, but we have a treasure that makes everything else seem worthless and meaningless. We have eternal life in Christ Jesus and all of the blessings it brings, now and in the life to come. Let us rejoice then and praise our God for making us truly rich with heavenly treasure

Our purpose in this life is more than just toattain stuff or to work or to hang with friends.
