Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice...
..is like a wise man who built his house on the ROCK

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.

Worship Focus:
How wonderful is our God that he gives us the Word and the Holy Spirit who works through it! But sadly there are false prophets and false teachers out there. They claim to speak on behalf of God and they lead many astray. So today we heed Jesus’ admonition to “Watch out!” for those false prophets and we praise our God that he gives us his Word also to guide us in his truth.

ASK THE LORD OF THE HARVEST THEREFORE TO SEND OUT WORKERS INTO HIS HARVEST FIELD.

Worship Focus:
Our God loves us. He guides us. He knows we face hardships and threats and evil in this world. He knows it all, and his heart goes out to us. And his heart goes out to others as well. Out of that compassion, our God calls servants who share his heart. These servants instruct, encourage, and lead so that God’s Church can grow, serve, and be protected from evil and the evil one. God be praised that he has given his Church the Holy Ministry out of his compassion, and may God guide all of usas we fulfill our calling in the ministry of the gospel.

Focus of Today’s Service: The Psalmist points out that ‘the fool says in his heart there is no god.’ The Scriptures, all creation in fact, speaks to the existence of God. The Scriptures provide clear testimony regarding who this God is and what He does for His creation. Be assured yet again of the facts which speak to God’s existence and that He is here with us, and for us. Rejoice in this truth.

Worship Focus:
God powerfully and visibly poured out his Holy Spirit on his people on the Day of Pentecost. The sound of rushing wind, tongues of fireon the disciples’ heads, and confident proclaiming of Christ in different languages accompanied the miraculous moment. But what about for us? Today we celebrate that the Holy Spirit still powerfully works through our proclaiming of Christ even though we don’t have the outward signs. Praise the Lord that his Spirit has been poured out on all of his people, and praise the Lord for the power he works through our witnessas well!

Worship Focus:
Our ascended Lord reigns! Imagine the amazement and the confusion of watching your Lord ascend into the heavens. Yet Scripture always says about Jesus’ ascension: Imagine the fulfillment, the power, the authority, and the sure promises! While it might look like the world is winning, while we might feel aimless and without purpose, and while we might feel like we’re left empty-handed, our King rules over all for our sake, has given us the greatest purpose of all, and has given ushis fulfilled Scriptures to grow in and share. So today we celebrate how we know that these promises are sure promises: Our Lord is ascended on high!
