GLORIFY HIM ... GROW IN HIM ... GO WITH HIS GOSPEL
CELEBRATING THE GOODNESS OF GOD
4th Sunday in Advent
December 24, 2023
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: It is easier to believe when we see what it is to believe, however, faith in God also calls for believing (trusting) even when we do not see what it is we are to believe (Heb 11). How can we have such faith? Such is not impossible with our God as the Holy Spirit works in us the trust we need through this life and for eternal life in heaven. God uses His ‘what seems to many just words on a page’ to change hearts which are dead to Him by nature to being alive in Him. God truly can, and does, make the impossible to us possible. And so, to God be the glory from our lips and through our lives!

Worship Focus: It cannot happen, Christ taken out of Christmas … so we might say; however, in a
way it already has happened, has it not? While Christ will always remain the reason for Christmas, the
world has not always connected and celebrated Christ with Christmas; the danger is there for us who
know about the connection between Christ and Christmas. How can we avoid such a danger? What
can we do to point others in Christ’s direction at Christmas and beyond? Our worship tonight is one
of the ways to do just that.

We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Could you use some comforting news in the face of all the news talking about the tragedies taking place throughout the world? Could you use some good news, maybe because your own life is filled with news you would rather not want to hear? Whatever the reason for wanting to hear good news, God be praised He has such to give us … time and time again … as the good news He holds out to us never grows old to hear or runs out. We hear today why this is the case with God’s good news which is able to give us needed comfort and reason for joy in our life.

Focus for our Midweek Gatherings ---
Don’t Take Christ out of Christmas
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of
worship our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news
about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
We say with the Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1).
May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear, speak, and sing His
holy Word.
Worship Focus: It cannot happen, Christ taken out of Christmas … so we might say; however, in a
way it already has happened, has it not? While Christ will always remain the reason for Christmas, the
world has not always connected and celebrated Christ with Christmas; the danger is there for us who

Worship Focus: It is one thing to hold on to memories of the past, it is another to not let go of the
past. Looking back does not benefit a runner. Living in the past does not help the person who is in
need of healing. Jesus reminds us today to be forward looking people, and He tells us why this is
important. What do forward looking people do? The answer is right in front of this morning.
