Third Sunday of Easter April 18, 2021
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus:
Last week we saw Jesus provide proof of his resurrection so his disciples could know for certain they had peace with God. Today we see Jesus provide proof so his disciples can know their role as witnesses. While you and I were not there to see Jesus on that first Easter, we too are witnesses of his resurrection because we’ve been given exactly the same thing the disciples used: the Word. And as we’ll celebrate today, the Word has a very effective message!

Worship Focus:
Really? He rose from the dead? Are you serious? There have been many doubts that have arisen among us humans as we consider a
risen Jesus. Even one of Jesus’ own disciples struggled with it before seeing him with his own eyes! Yet regardless of whether
we doubt it, the truth remains: Jesus is risen. And with that truth comes another truth we’ll celebrate today: since Jesus is
indeed risen, no doubt about it we do indeed have peace with God.

Worship Focus:
How often do you think about Easter? When you do think about it, what comes to mind? Easter is more than a date on the calendar,
it is more than the earthly traditions which have become associated with Easter; it is about hope, a hope like no other.
At the rootof this hope is the empty tomb of Jesus. Think of what this hope means for you, and let this hope lead you through your
days on this earth. Let us worship the One who has given us this hope.

A place to call home:
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of worship our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus. We say with the
Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the
LORD’”(Psalm 122:1). May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear, speak, and sing His holy Word.
Worship Focus:
This is a day of mixed emotions as we pause to remember why Jesus had to die; it was not for anything that He had done wrong,
but it has everything to do with what we have done wrong. On the flip side, because He was willing to give of Himself in this way,
to the point of death, we have forgiveness for all that we have done wrong; no other payment for sin is needed. With that in mind
we focus once again on...the why, the result, and the what now associated with Good Friday.
Prayer for Worship: Dearest Jesus, how can we thank You for the price You paid that we might be at one with the Father? Thank You
for the sacrifice of Yourself on the cross as our Substitute. Firm up our faith as we humbly remember on this Good Friday Your cross
and tomb. Amen.

Maunday-Thursday April 1, 2021
WHAT IS MAUNDY THURSDAY?
Maundy Thursday receives its name from the Latin phrase novum mandatum, which means, “new command.” It refers to Jesus’ words which he
spoke to his disciples on this night, “A new command I give you: Love one another” (John 13:34). The institution of the Lord’s Supper
on that night displays the depth of Jesus’ love for us and gives power to the church to live out his command.

Worship Focus:
He’s here! Our Savior enters Jerusalem as our conquering king! And yet, he doesn’t enter the city as one might think he would.
Our King comes lowly and humble. What a perfect way to point us to the events of the week ahead! Our humble Savior enters Jerusalem
to die for our sins. So then today let us rejoice with the believing crowd on that first Palm Sunday and raise shouts of “Hosanna!”
to our Lord! He’s here, and he comes to conquer our foes of sin, death, and the devil!.
