CELEBRATING THE GOODNESS OF GOD
3rd Sunday of Easter

A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Why you? Why would God have an interest in you? You are His creation, as He is
the Author of all life. He has redeemed you through the sacrifice of His Son. He cares about your
body and your soul. Even though ‘we’ may not have an interest in God, He does in ‘us.’ As we think
about people who have no interest in God, maybe through you that will change; and so, we do and
support Gospel sharing efforts with that goal in mind. God be praised for His patience and His
caring about people, like you.

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Have you ever accused God of being a liar? We might be tempted to when His
plans for us do not seem to line up with the plans we have set for ourselves. God has only our good
in mind, eternal good above all. And so, when our plans do not seem to line up, who needs to adjust?
At the heart of God’s solid promises is the news concerning the resurrection of Jesus. If God has
does this for you, what else can and does He do for you which you can count on? Something to
reflect on during this hour of worship.

Worship Focus: Have you thought about what heaven will be like? What have you come up with?
The Bible gives us glimpses of what heaven will be like for us who confess Jesus as Lord. While we
don’t have all the answers we might like to have, we have enough to know our hope for heaven is a
good thing. Heaven is not just a pipe dream, a checking out of reality; it is reality, and thank God it is
for without it we would be hard pressed to get through this life. Celebrate, then: Jesus lives. A place
in heaven has been secured through Jesus. How do you plan to live your life now with this news
firmly in your heart?

Good Friday --- Look to Love & Serve
April 15, 2022 … 6:30 PM
IT IS FINISHED …
FOR YOU
HE WALKED THE PATH TO CALVARY
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of
worship our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news
about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
We say with the Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1).
May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear, speak, and sing His
holy Word.
Worship Focus: During the Season of Lent, for our midweek Lenten journey with Jesus to the
cross, we have been looking at various ‘shadows of the Savior,’ that which pointed ahead to what
Jesus as Savior would do as part of gaining our salvation. On this Good Friday, we continue our look
at such shadows; today’s is centered on a snake. All who looked on ‘this snake’ had their life spared.
How that snake served as a shadow is our focus. Sin comes with a deadly bite; Jesus has the antidote.

SHADOWS OF THE SAVIOR …
All of these were a ‘shadow’ of the things
that were to come;

(Colossians 2:17)
GLORIFY HIM …

Worship Focus: The word “Maundy” is of Latin origin. It has to do with the mandate Jesus gave to
His disciples (see John 13:34). He who is love wants us to love one another. Out of love, Jesus laid
down His life in place of our own; it had to be this way for only His death would be able to atone for
every human being. Jesus humbled Himself, this ought to humble us and move us to love Him and
loving Him shows itself in loving our fellow human beings.

Worship Focus: How is your eyesight? Are you near-sighted or far-sighted? Do you need ‘reading’
glasses? Do you lose your glasses? Glasses (and contacts) can get dirty, and thus make it difficult to see
things clearly. Do you keep them dirty/smudged? To see clearly we clean such; the concept is not
different with our hearts (faith). Keeping our ‘eyes’ (heart) focused on Jesus, we have the vision
needed to go through this life as we look forward to the life to come. Our worship today is designed
to maintain and improve our vision.

Worship Focus: Was the Gospel just for ‘New Testament Believers’? Not at all. The Gospel has
not changed from day one God announced His saving plan to the world – Genesis 3:15. And so we
have throughout the Old Testament references to the coming Savior, references the believers in the
OT would hold on to as they believed God would keep His promise. Some of these references we
refer to as ‘shadows or pictures of the Savior.’ During this Lenten Journey we will review some of
these ‘shadows’ and see their fulfillment in the Christ who came in flesh at the appointed time to
carry out the plan of our salvation. God be praised for keeping His promise.
