GLORIFY HIM ... GROW IN HIM ... GO WITH HIS GOSPEL
CELEBRATING THE GOODNESS OF GOD
6th Sunday in Lent
March 26, 2023
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: What are some things you can be certain will take place while you are living on this
side of heaven? The list is long, and it includes dying as no one escapes that which has come into this
world as a consequence of sin. Even though we will die, unless Jesus returns first, death does not
have to be something we are afraid of happening to us; what is frightening is not having a connection
with the Creator God through His Son, Jesus, when that time comes. How can we know if we have
the necessary connection? That is the focus for today.
Serving at Worship
Presiding Minister: Mr. Greg Thiesfeldt
Focus on the Scriptures: Pastor Jonathan Kolander
Musical Accompanist: Lisa Thiesfeldt
Flowers: The flowers have been placed at the altar by the Lazaga’s in celebration of Greg’s 92
Birthday!

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: What is holding you back from living free in Jesus? If you are caught up in the
thought process of not feeling saved or worthy, reread John 3:16 and the events of Holy Week;
focus on the facts which reveal God’s love for you, such is not based on how you feel but on how
He is toward us. Maybe it is guilt which is holding you back; Jesus has made it possible for you to
be set free from this too. As we ponder the opening question this Lenten journey, may the Lord
continue to open your eyes and ears and heart to what He has done to set us free from ourselves
(our sin and all that comes with it) and thus enabled to live the life He calls us to live – living free
in Jesus.

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Why me? Why do I have to get sick? What did I do wrong to deserve this? Sound familiar? It is natural for us to ask why and assume ‘we’ must have done something to have ‘this’ not good happen to us. Yet, not everything negative can be tied to something specific; at times life will just not go as hoped or planned because we do live in a world that is not perfect. Thankfully God has something to help us sort through the why questions and the consequences of sin. His answers are rooted in His grace. To this God indeed be our praise and thanks today and always.

Worship Focus: Would you consider yourself to be a complainer, someone who sees the glass
repeatedly less than half full? No doubt this earthly life is full of disappointments, heartache, and a
whole list of negative; yet what does not change through any of that? The Lord does not abandon us
or leave us without something positive to hold on to through it all. With the Lord, our glass is always
at least half full. Evidence of this is before us once again today. Let us glorify our God!
