First Sunday of Advent

Worship Focus: Today is the first Sunday of the church year and the first Sunday in the season of Advent. As we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Jesus’ birth this Advent season, the Scripture readings for this first week of the season encourage us to also prepare ourselves for the final judgment. Faith in Christ prepares us for that day and assures us that we have nothing to fear when Jesus returns to this world a second time on the Last Day.

Last Sunday of the Church Year

Worship Focus:  Just as we end the calendar year with a New Year’s Eve celebration, so we end the church year with an appropriate celebration. Each church year reviews the life and work of Jesus Christ, so it is fitting that we conclude the church year with the the Festival of Christ the King. Today we celebrate the gracious, saving work of our heavenly King who has established his kingdom in our hearts by bringing us to faith in him.
