Sing the Resurrection Song—A Study of the Church’s Easter Hymns: The Easter season brings to mind some of our favorite hymns that proclaim the good news of Jesus’ resurrection. Increase your appreciation for the words that you sing in this class researched and prepared by John Lervold. John will take a look primarily at the hymns we will sing in worship this Easter season and show how they reflect the focus of the day and reinforce the Easter resurrection gospel. Our hymn study will take place in the church sanctuary.

Serving God in Everyday Life

Sunday Apr 17, 2016
Serving God in Everyday Life—A Study of Vocation: Martin Luther was very critical of the church in his day for encouraging people to live as monks and nuns away from the regular population. His study of the Bible convinced him that a secluded life was no more “holy” than the secular lives of ordinary people. In fact, God is the one who gave us our vocations—the different positions we have in life, such as child, spouse, parent, employee, employer, citizen, etc. We serve God best not when we separate ourselves from the world but by living out our faith in the real world. Join Pastor Strey in the Luther Room each Sunday as we rediscover this important emphasis on our God-given vocation.

A Study of the Church’s Mission: This class will remind us of the joy, privilege and responsibility we have as God’s people to carry out the Great Commission. Through study of Scripture, discussion of life and a look into the resources available to us, we will review our responsibility to reach out as a synod, congregation and individual believers in Jesus. You will have a better understanding of how you with your unique gifts, talents and abilities fit into God’s Great Commission to go with the gospel. Pastor Schmidt will teach this class in the gym.
