Third Sunday in Lent
Sunday Mar 19, 2017
Sunday Mar 19, 2017
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Worship Focus: Light and darkness are common biblical metaphors for a person’s spiritual condition. Darkness represents sin and unbelief; light represents faith and godly living. As we continue working our way through the major themes of Scripture this Lenten season, we see how Jesus, the Light of the world, has enlightened our hearts and scattered the darkness of sin from our souls by his life-saving, light-giving work of salvation. May the Holy Spirit keep our souls enlightened in Christ! Presiding Minister: Pastor Jason Schmidt Musical Accompanist: Marty Puckett

Prayer at the Close of Day
Wednesday Mar 15, 2017
Wednesday Mar 15, 2017
“Prayer at the Close of Day” (also known by its Latin title, “Compline”) is the last of the seven daily prayer services that developed in the medieval Christian church. These daily services, called the “Daily Office,” were most commonly used in monasteries and schools. Several of the services from the Daily Office are enjoying renewed use in the twenty-first century church. Tonight’s service sets the texts of this historic service to modern music. The setting of “Prayer at the Close of Day” we use comes from Christian Worship: New Service Settings. The music is by Dale Witte and was first published in 2002.

Second Sunday in Lent
Sunday Mar 12, 2017
Sunday Mar 12, 2017
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Worship Focus: Many assumptions exist about how we enter into a relationship with God. God’s Word makes it clear that our works, our ethnicity, or any other personal characteristic we have has nothing to do with our relationship with the Lord. Faith alone—trust in the promises of God to forgive our sins on account of Jesus’ saving work—is what unites us to God. Serving at Worship
