Maundy Thursday --- HIS Body & Blood March 28, 2024
Thursday Mar 28, 2024
Thursday Mar 28, 2024
A place to call home: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of
worship our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
We say with the Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1).
May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear, speak, and sing His holy Word.
Worship Focus: How important is blood? We cannot exist without it. We are encouraged to take
measures to protect the blood within our bodies, including when we get a cut on any part of our
body so to reduce or prevent any infection from getting into our bloodstream. Blood is the focus of
our Service tonight, not our blood but the blood of Jesus. He was willing to shed His blood so our
‘blood’ would not be eternally impacted by the severe consequence of our sin – eternal death. It is
not a pleasant topic unless we can grasp the impact of what Jesus did for us through His blood given
and shed for us … for all.

Worship Focus: When we think of Jesus’ accomplishments, the miracles He did and His death on
the cross and His rising from the dead are some that come readily to mind. How about His rule over
all things in heaven and on earth? Do we at times question His rule given how things are going in this
world? Such too is included in His provisionary work, much of which we are not even aware taking
place. Thankfully God keeps His promises and we have become the beneficiaries of this. Let us
shout out our ‘Hosannas’ to the Lord.

Worship Focus: When you think of a love story, does your mind right away go to the greatest love story of all time … that being the one God wrote and acted on? The church Season of Lent
provides the perfect setting to see and hear God’s love for you, even if you have heard it countless times. The focus during Lent is not on what we have to do but on what God already has done for us, and how He keeps it in front of us all our days on this side of heaven. In response, the Holy
Spirit prompts us and directs us on how to show our love for God. We can rightly say, then, that what is before us in no ordinary love story.

We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love and forgiveness through Jesus.
Worship Focus : Think of how many ways people have come up with as an alternative to God’s way
of salvation, even if ‘they’ are not purposely coming up with the alternative ? Though there are many
‘ways’ such have one thing for sure in common, and that is one has to earn their way. God knows we
cannot do that, thus the implementing of His Way --- which is through Jesus, and Jesus alone. We
recall again how Jesus has made our salvation a reality … God’s way.

Worship Focus: How much thought have you given to what your life would be like if God had not
called you to be a part of His family? Thankfully we do not have to dwell on this thought, yet just the
thought of it ought to increase our gratefulness to God for His grace and gift of faith (the ability to
to trust in His gift of salvation). Our gratefulness can be evident since we are equipped by God to do
those things He expects of us as noted in His Word.
