Worship Focus: When you look in the mirror, who do you see? Do you see a redeemed child of God? If not, why not? What did Jesus come to earth to accomplish? He came to accomplish peace between God our Creator and you … all people. Advent prepares our minds and hearts to thank our God properly for keeping His promise celebrated at Christmas and all which that kept promise led to then and now and forever. Rest assured peace is yours through Jesus, you have been redeemed. Give thanks!

And we begin our church year the same way we ended the last one: looking forward to the Last Day when our Savior will come and judge the world, deliver his people, and begin his glorious reign. God promised Christ would come the first time, and he did. God promises he’s coming back, and he will. Are you ready for Christ’s return? Are you ready for that judgment? Heed Jesus’ encouragement in the Gospel Lesson: “Be careful!...Be always on the watch!”

Worship Focus: How is your love life … with Jesus? Who loves more in this relationship, you or Him? Jesus has gone to great lengths in order to show His love for us, no greater love is there than His. In love He has given us freedom from some nasty things while also giving us freedom for some great things. Let us continue to learn about His love for us which in turn will continually fuel our love for Him. Time is of the essence as we are reminded of on this last Sunday in the End Time focus of the church year. Grace and peace to you.

Worship Focus: There is something no one will be able to escape and that is the time we will have to stand face to face before God and give an accounting of our life. Does this truth make you nervous? As a child of God our reason to be nervous has been removed thanks to Jesus. Today we are given another opportunity to grow in our readiness to meet God. We are also given another opportunity to grow in our knowledge of what to say to someone else as that ‘time’ gets closer with each passing day. Peace through Jesus, let us celebrate such a gift.

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Focus of Today’s Service: It is only fitting to celebrate the Reformation which took place in the days of Martin Luther as there is still a need for reformation given the climate in the church. Work-righteousness continues to creep into the church, at times it is not so subtle. There is the temptation to rely on the Biblical experts and church programs than on the Word itself for the work God has given to His Church. What, then, is the message which needs to come from our churches? God enrich our trust in Him yet again as we zero in on His message for us and through us. Thanks be to God! Let us worship Him.
