Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Prayer: Gracious Lord God, as travelers in this sinful world, the search for peace seems like an impossible dream. We see unrest all around, in our country, in our schools and workplaces, and in our homes. Our minds are often filled with restless thoughts that rob our joy and happiness. Today our children present a message filled with your blessing of peace; peace that came to earth long ago in the Bethlehem manger. This was not an earthly peace, which is only fleeting, but heavenly peace that sets our hearts at rest. Send your Holy Spirit into our hearts and show us the true peace between you,our perfect God,and our sin-filled souls. Teach us to treasure the peace that is ours through the sacrifice of Jesus, our Savior, who is the Prince of Peace, and in whose name we pray. Amen.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Brock Groth
Musical Accompanist: Marty Puckett
Children’s Accompanist: Lisa Thiesfeldt
Violin: Vincent Beiderbecke and Dawson Waterman

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: “Repent!” is the cry of Advent. Why? “The kingdom of heaven is near!” As Jesus’ first appearance drove God’s people to reflect upon their lives and remove their deeds of darkness, so his second comingdrives our reflection. He is coming in judgment—andthe judgment upon darkness will be severe. So we’re lovingly warned: “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

THREE WORDS OF TRUTH
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Do you like surprises? We definitely don’t like surprises that come with a negative result. When health fails, for example, it may not always be a surprise but rather a missing of warning signs. When Jesus brings this present world to an end, it should not really be a surprise to us. While not having the exact day, we have been given warning signs; along with ways to be prepared for that Day. This is the encouragement before us today. So dear friends, stay awake.

Thanksgiving
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on both the earthly aspects of life as well as the spiritual. The Lord truly gives us our “daily bread,” and He has also provided for the needs of our soul. To Him, then, be all our praise today and every day through our voices and our actions. Our overall theme for this Thanksgiving Service is: The lord does great things ... focus on your response.

Worship Focus:
This is it. Another church year is wrapped up today. And how do we end the church year?
By doing exactly what we’ll be doing for all eternity in God’s presence:
praising our Lord Jesus as the King of kings!
He’s not a king who’s a dictator or tyrant; he’s a king who rules in humility, self-sacrifice,
and by the almighty power of his Word and authority over all.
Let us shout with joy over the eternal triumph of Christ the King—our King!

Worship Focus:
Jesus says today in the Gospel: “ Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. ” How true! There’s so much more to life thanks to Christ and the eternal life he’s given us. However, we often fall into the temptations of greed and abundance and forget about being rich toward God. So today we get a needed, stern, and loving reminder from our Savior that our earthly wealth is meaningless without him.

Focus of Today’s Service: What is freedom? If you are in debt, you are not really free. If you work for someone else, even if you own your business, you are not really free. Laws and Conscience remind us we are not as free as we might think. There is one freedom which truly is freeing, and it is free to us; that is the freedom (forgiveness) Jesus has for us. God help us live the life He has given us in and with this freedom. His Truth does indeed set us free. What that looks like is our focus.

We have eternal life in Christ Jesus and all of the blessings it brings, now and in the life to come. Let us rejoice then and praise our God for making us truly rich with heavenly treasure
