Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus:
When we pick our own teams we typically pick people who we can count on to help us win. When it comes to getting right with God, God did not pick us to be on His team because we could help get right with Him; He picked us because He knows we are helpless when it comes to gaining our salvation. He picked us because He loves us. He wants everyone to be saved but some want nothing to do with Him. Celebrate the fact God has picked you, that He has given you salvation; pray for His calling to take root in the hearts of others. Our worship today is meant to help us celebrate the gift of faith!

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: In the Gospel of John, chapter 20, we are told, “But these are written that you may
believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
It is because of this truth we are gathered here once again to hear how Jesus Christ has made such a
life possible. It was not an easy feat. The way to our having a life that goes beyond the day to day
routines of this life and which holds certainty beyond this life came at a great price. Jesus had to die,
or we were going to end up dead. This is important because there is a death beyond the physical. The
death Jesus enables us to be free from meant he had to go to war. During this time of Lent we will be
looking at, from various vantage points, this war he entered so we could have life in his name. The
Lord deepen your appreciation for this life you have been given as you hear for the first time or the
how many times the length Jesus was willing to go with you in mind. THE SON OF GOD GOES
FORTH TO WAR.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Kolander
Accompanist: Lisa Thiesfeldt

THE ORDER OF WORSHIP
Focus of Today’s Service: What could mankind do? A mighty defeat at the hand of the devil rendered us all sinful and subject to death’s reign. “A champion!” God exclaimed. “I will send a champion to win victory for my people!” And indeed he did when he sent Jesus. This Lenten season we once again look forward to the victory our Savior won with his perfect life and his atoning deathin our place. With repentant hearts, we now turn our focus tothe terrible price paid by our Savior on the cross and the righteousness and life it brings to us now and forever.

THE ORDER OF WORSHIP
Worship Focus: There are a good number of people vying for our attention from family to work, from commercials to social media. How do we determine who to give our attention? As we contemplate this, keep in mind another person who is to have our attention. Jesus is to have our attention. He gets it through the Bible. The Bible has answerswe need, and we do benefit from such when we pay attention to what Jesus has to say. Stay connected to Jesus Serving at Worship!

Are you okay with getting ‘digs’ into another person as a way to feel superior? Are looking to bring people to Jesus, or is your lifestyle keeping them from wanting to learn of Him through you? God takes our salvation seriously; let’s take our living for Him seriously.

Worship Focus: Last week we looked at why we’re blessed as the people of the almighty God. This week we look at how those blessings continue: we get to live as God’s people do. Living lives that honor God brings glory to his name, which helps light up the world around us with his glory so others can join us in honoring him, too. So let us encourage one another today as we consider what our God has made us to be and what that means not only for our lives but also for those around us.

Worship Focus:Focus of Today’s Service: When you feel helpless, lowly, weak, and all seems hopeless, what kind of joy and hope do you have? All hope! Why? Because you don’t trust and hope in your own strength. You trust and hope in God’s strength. He’s mighty to save, and he’s proven it in the past, made it evident in the present, and promises it in the future. So rejoice and be glad when you’re weak and called weak, because your weakness proves his strength all the more.
