Lent Midweek March 10, 2021
A place to call home:
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of worship our guests who have joined
us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
We say with the Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’”(Psalm 122:1. May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear,
speak, and sing His holy Word.
Worship Focus:
What shall ‘I’ do with Jesus? During this Lenten Season we will explore various answers to this important question.
What Jesus has done on your behalf, on behalf of the entire world population of all time, is not to be taken lightly or treated
like ‘we have heard this all before.’ The message is indeed relevant, needed just as much now as it was for previous generations.
What do you do with Jesus, not just during Lent but every day of your entire life here on earth? Your answer is important.
God help us see and appreciate His powerful display of mercy; and then celebrate the fact He did this for you, and for
others ---tell them about it.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Dave Koelpin
Accompanist: Marty Puckett

Worship Focus:
One thing that is very evident in Lent: God is very serious about his Word... all of it. There is no commandment he takes lightly
and no transgression of them he ignores. And yet by his grace, there is also no promise he doesn’t fulfill. Thus came Jesus,
filled the same zeal for his Father’s Word and the people’s connection to it. Thankfully that also meant he faithfully fulfilled
every commandment so that the law’s righteous requirement might be fully met in us through faith. God be praised that he’s very
serious about his Word

Worship Focus: Do you believe in consequences? If someone in the family or in the office does not
do what was expected, will there be consequences which could not only impact themselves but even
those around them? It is one thing to say we are going to do something; it is another to do it. It is
one thing to say we are committed to Jesus; it is another to back that up with action. Note today
what Jesus has to say about commitment and consequences.

put our trust in fellow human beings there will be disappointment; however, trust in God is always a
sure thing. The problem when it comes to trust and God is not with Him but with us. God help us
grow in our trust in Him as we face temptations and trials on this side of heaven so that we can
remain with Him in heaven. This is news for sure to share.

Worship Focus: It can be easy to see Jesus as only a lowly human being who suffered and died a shameful
death. Except when you see the complete opposite! Before he set out to suffer and die, Jesus gave a glimpse of
his true glory to his disciples. That display of who he truly is was to help guide them through what they were
about to witness with his suffering and crucifixion. It does the same for us as we prepare for the beginning of
Lent. In everything we’ll see from now until Good Friday, Jesus’ transfiguration makes sure we don’t forget the
true glory of our Savior.

Why do we gather at God’s house? What are you doing to take care of both houses? One way to take
care of God’s house, your spiritual well-being, is by keeping your eyes and thoughts fixed on Jesus.
Celebrate God’s goodness in your life through Jesus. Celebrate within these walls of this house of
worship dedicated to Him, as well as when not in this place. Such will lead to an even greater
