Worship Focus : What do you find amazing as you go through this life? Perhaps it is a place you
traveled to and that place took your breath away (thankfully you are still breathing). Perhaps it is
being able to recover from a medical situation , or as you reflect on how life in the womb begins and
grows, or that God would send His own Son to save someone like you (us). We hear about some
amazing facts once again today . Through His Word God keeps us amazed, pass on the amazement.

Worship Focus: If you want to hold back a great amount of water, say during a heavy rain which
could lead to flooding, what would you use? A paper fence is not going to cut it, is it? Daily we have
to endure attacks on our faith with the goal of breaking through and washing us away from Jesus.
What can we do to prepare so we will not be swept away when that time comes? The Lord gives us
what we need.

Going through this life, we might be calling for the mercy rule to take effect. Thankfully God has had mercy on us, and He renews His mercy toward us daily; without it we would be in a whole heap of trouble and despair. Today we see what is at the core of His mercy and applying the mercy rule toward us.

Worship Focus: For a good number of people, when they walk into a dark room they reach for what? The light switch. Jesus Himself is light. As the light He exposes evil for what it is; as the light He also points out the way to be delivered from the evils of this world, so such will not follow us when we leave this earth. Christmas is a time for lights, and there is no better or brighter light to focus on than Jesus – the promised One. Merry Christmas thanks to Him who is the Light.

Worship Focus: It is easier to believe when we see what it is to believe, however, faith in God also calls for believing (trusting) even when we do not see what it is we are to believe (Heb 11). How can we have such faith? Such is not impossible with our God as the Holy Spirit works in us the trust we need through this life and for eternal life in heaven. God uses His ‘what seems to many just words on a page’ to change hearts which are dead to Him by nature to being alive in Him. God truly can, and does, make the impossible to us possible. And so, to God be the glory from our lips and through our lives!

Worship Focus: It cannot happen, Christ taken out of Christmas … so we might say; however, in a
way it already has happened, has it not? While Christ will always remain the reason for Christmas, the
world has not always connected and celebrated Christ with Christmas; the danger is there for us who
know about the connection between Christ and Christmas. How can we avoid such a danger? What
can we do to point others in Christ’s direction at Christmas and beyond? Our worship tonight is one
of the ways to do just that.

We hear today why this is the case with God’s good news which is able to give us needed comfort and reason for joy in our life.
