Worship Focus: If you are friends with the world, what might this indicate about your relationship
with Jesus? If you are friends with God , what might the world have to say about you? Whose opinion
of you is to matter most, and why is this? The Lord is aware of not friendly environments, and thus
He has equipped us with His Word to be and to remain salt and light . Remain strong in the Lord!

what this life is like from your vantage point? Has that point of view changed over time, if so, for the
better or for the worse? This life is full of ups and downs , but there is at least one constant through
both situations (and it is a positive one) … God’s mercies toward us are renewed each day . This is a
fact of life to be thankful about - thankfulness evident through our attitudes, words and actions.

Worship Focus : Believers are not exempt from difficult situations whether those be physical or
emotional or even spiritual . What He allows, or sends, He also provides the answer we need to get
through those difficult situations . Knowing this, let us keep digging into His Word so we can mine
the truths He puts before us . As we do , fear and doubt will subside ; and when such comes back ,
again to the Word we go back. It is good, then, for us to be here today .

happen? You expect to see growth in what was planted or p laced. How does that grow th come
about? Who has provided what is needed so growth can take pla ce? Same with faith … we did not
start it yet we are to water it ; however , the growth is dependent on the one who gave it . How can you
know if growth is taking place? The Lord provides an swers which serve as our focus today.

right and the other wrong ; it is good to know which way we lean especially if we need to be more
routine about something (like taking medication) . It is also good to be aware that our routines do not
become mindless ruts. What is formal worship attendance for you : A routine or on the fly? The Lord
has an answer for us.

work on them. Thankfully God took the first step with us , and He continues to take steps with the
goal of improving the relationship He has with us/we with Him. Welcome back to worship , which is
one of those ways .

Worship Focus : If water did not exist, what would this world look like ? Not pretty, right? If you did
not believe in Jesus for salvation, what would your life look life? Thankfully water does exist and is
able to sustain God’s creation ; thankfully by God’s grace you do believe in Jesus . As we need water
to stay alive and refreshed, so we need to remain connected to Jesus by way of the Word to stay alive
and refreshed . Such spiritual water is available to everyone, but not everyone wants to drink it. A s we
celebrate Pentecost , we are reminded of our God -given mission to put this water of life before as
many people as possible . What is your role in doing just that?

Worship Focus: The Ascension of Jesus (40 days following His rising from the dead) is significant
as it reiterates the fact peace with God our Creator has been accomplished by what Jesus endured
while on that cross. And now, back in His rightful place, He continues to meet our needs --- pointing
out our sins have been forgiven, working out aspects of life for our good, keeping us on the path to
heaven. Connected to Ascension is the reminder to talk up His name and benefits as often and as to
as many as we can while able to do so. Worship enables us to give thanks to God for all His Truths,
while being built up and building up those with us.

Getting to know Stephen Bautista
Stephen and his family are WELS members who travel around the country for their full-time
Christian music mission. Their goal is to "enlighten the lost and encourage the found" with
Stephen’s original, Christ-centered music. Along with his daughter Marissa, Stephen shares his
music in a very compelling yet soothing style, while conveying a solid Gospel message.

Stephen, his wife, Christy, their nine “road-schooled” children, a dog, and two cats have a home-
base in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, but are more often found visiting congregations around the
country in their Chevy Express van with their 33ft travel trailer in tow.

Stephen has five professionally produced CDs that are available for purchase at his concerts and

Examination and Confirmation

Worship Focus: If you have gone through Confirmation , you no longer need to spend time in the
Word of God . While that is not accurate, how many people who have gone through the process of
Confirmation believe and or act like that is the case? Confirmation as we celebrate it in our church is
just another stepping stone in what is to be our lifelong relationship with Jesus. Confirmation is an
indication that we have been maturing in our faith and in Bible knowledge ; and, it is a time when we
publicly promise to stay connected to the Word of God through the church (3rd Commandment and
Hebrews 10:23 -25). We know that challenges to the faith remain after Confirmation, yet with what
we have learned, and with what we continue to learn through the Bible, we can endure through them
and hold on to God’s gift of eternal life. If you have been confirmed , may you continue to take
seriously all that goes with it; and if you have not been doing that but are here today, may God renew
your heart to do so. Keep today’s Confirmands in your prayers.

strong emotions as well as leads to action? The word is ‘love.’ Love is what Jesus has shown to the
people of this world; it is what He expects to see in action from the people of this world. This love is
not to be superficial or manipulative, it is to be genuine and prominent in one’s life. How does your
practice of love measure up to the expectation Jesus puts before us?
