Lent Midweek March 17, 2021
A place to call home:
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome home. We especially welcome to our house of worship our guests who have joined
us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
We say with the Psalmist, whether here on campus or viewing online, “I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the LORD’”(Psalm 122:1. May the Lord continue to help us grow in His grace and knowledge as we hear,
speak, and sing His holy Word.
Worship Focus:
What shall ‘I’ do with Jesus? During this Lenten Season we will explore various answers to this important question.
What Jesus has done on your behalf, on behalf of the entire world population of all time, is not to be taken lightly or treated
like ‘we have heard this all before.’ Themessage is indeed relevant, needed just as much now as it was for previous generations.
What do you do with Jesus, not just during Lent but every day of your entire life here on earth? Your answer is important.
God help us see and appreciate His powerful display of mercy; and then celebrate the fact He did this for you, and for
others ---tell them about it.
Presiding Minister: PastorBrock Groth
Accompanist: Lisa Thiesfeldt

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: In the Gospel of John, chapter 20, we are told, “But these are written that you may
believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
It is because of this truth we are gathered here once again to hear how Jesus Christ has made such a
life possible. It was not an easy feat. The way to our having a life that goes beyond the day to day
routines of this life and which holds certainty beyond this life came at a great price. Jesus had to die,
or we were going to end up dead. This is important because there is a death beyond the physical. The
death Jesus enables us to be free from meant he had to go to war. During this time of Lent we will be
looking at, from various vantage points, this war he entered so we could have life in his name. The
Lord deepen your appreciation for this life you have been given as you hear for the first time or the
how many times the length Jesus was willing to go with you in mind. THE SON OF GOD GOES
FORTH TO WAR.

THREE WORDS OF TRUTH
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Sermon Focus … “Take Him Away” based on John 19:14-18
14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. 15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered. 16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
